This morning, camp feels different. Instead of the usual buzz of activities, we could hear suitcases rolling and being carried down the staircase, campers hugging their friends, and staff members lending a hand with last-minute packing. It is departure day, and also the final day of our Summer 2025 season.
Breakfast was filled with both laughter and silences, as everyone looked back on the memories they made over the past 2 weeks: adventures in the mountains, days by the lake, friendly competitions, cabane nights, talent shows, lake days, and the endless moments that made camp feel like home. Some campers couldn’t stop talking about their highlights, while others remained more reserved, already feeling the bittersweet feeling of saying goodbye.
Slowly, families arrived, buses pulled up, and one by one, campers began their journeys home. For many, this meant heading back to school, reuniting with family, and sharing stories of summer adventures. Though returning to routines of classes and homework may seem worlds away from camp life, we know the lessons learned at Les Elfes: teamwork, courage, independence, and friendship that will stay with them long after the backpacks replace banana boats and mountain bikes.
For staff, the emotions were just as strong. After weeks of guiding, cheering, teaching, and creating memories with campers, today marked the end of another unforgettable chapter. Saying goodbye never gets easier, especially after watching campers grow in confidence, try new things, and make friends from around the world.
As the last bus pulled away and camp grew quiet, the staff gathered together one final time. There were hugs, and countless of adventures to be shared.
And so, Summer 2025 comes to a close. While goodbyes are always hard, they also mark new beginnings.
